Zim improves results in Q1/2013
The Israeli carrier Zim increased its revenue to USD 918 million in Q1/2013. This equates to a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2012. The average freight income per teu was up by 4% to reach USD 1,282. Zim carried 602,000 teu in the first three months of 2013, a 6% year-on-year increase. Although the bottom line is red in Q1/2013 – the overall loss came to USD 6 million measured by earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (ebitda) - the figure is considerably better than the minus USD 69 million posted for Q1/2012.
