100 new locomotives for EU cross-border traffic

Siemens and DB Cargo have inked a framework agreement for the delivery of 100 multisystem locomotives. During the contract signing, DB's freight division placed an initial call for 40 Vectron multisystem locomotives. It is planned to use the locomotives for cross-border transport in Europe. Delivery of the locomotives will begin in February 2019 and end in June 2020.

The Vectron MS is a particularly energy-efficient locomotive that enables cross-border transport without the need to swap traction. The units ordered by DB Cargo have a top speed of 160 km/h and are equipped with the required national train control systems and the European train control system (ETCS). (ben)
