20 ha PV for Kelheim terminal
BLG Logistics has launched the construction of a photovoltaic plant at its vehicle terminal in Kelheim.
Together with project developer Solea, the company will install 53,000 solar modules on 20 ha of parking area, aiming to generate over 23 MW of renewable power. The site will feature 10,000 covered spaces, protecting vehicles from the weather while producing green electricity, as Blg reported.
The initiative follows PV use already implemented at the site in 2019. Kelheim is a key multimodal hub in BLG’s network, linking waterway, rail and road according to Axel Krichel (pictured, second from the left), board member and COO at BLG.
Around 300 employees handle vehicles arriving from South Germany, the Adriatic ports, Hungary and Slovakia there. (js)
