Agreement on maritime data transfer
The cooperation between the ship tracking intelligence company Marine Traffic and the satellite AIS data provider exact Earth to deliver additional real-time information is now operational.
The additional satellite data complements the MarineT raffic coastal receiver network: a system consisting of 3,500 points of presence allowing for real-time vessel tracking data of most of the global shipping fleet.
The addition of exact Earth data to the existing satellite dataset on Marine Traffic will particularly enhance the visibility of vessels in both the Gulf of Mexico and the South China Sea, where the high volume of close-proximity vessels presents detection challenges. (kd)
