Alternative transport solutions for Poland

Because of the energy crisis triggered by Russia’s war in Ukraine, Poland has to purchase coal from other countries, like Spain. Innofreight and LTG Cargo have developed a sophisticated special solution for these transports. The coal arrives by ship in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda and is then carried to Braniewo, Poland by train.

Lithuania’s rail network is broad gauge, Poland’s standard gauge. To overcome this challenge, the wagons from LTG Cargo with 60 Mon Tainers XXL are loaded at Klaipeda and transported to a Lithuanian terminal in Kaunas or Sestokai, where they are reloaded onto 15 2×40 ft Innowagons. Then train takes the cargo to Braniewo. (ben)
