Antonov flies in critical automotive components
After a recent fire at an automotive supplier’s plant disrupted vehicle production for some auto manufacturers, the express transport provider, Active On-Demand, used its logistics expertise and enabled Ford’s production to resume sooner than expected.
The team of the Roadrunner Transportation Systems company arranged air and ground transport and helped prepare import and export documentation to transport critical tools, including a nearly 40,000 kg die which is used to cut or shape material using a press. The items were urgently required to produce Ford F-150 components.
The solution for transporting the weighty shipment from Ohio (USA) to Nottingham (UK), was an air charter on an Antonov Airlines' AN-124-100.
The airline's managing director Graham Witton: "We were able to deliver ahead of the traditional timeframe it would have taken to transport the outsized cargo." (ah)
