Around 100 BEVs to join the fleet

The transport company Schneider is set to take delivery of around 100 class 8 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) for its intermodal operations in Southern California (USA).

Schneider’s first ‘eCascadia’ is set to roll off the assembly line soon of Freightliner, a subsidiary of Daimler, in Portland OR (USA). The 100 BEVs will provide Schneider with one of the largest electric fleets in North America.

The new eCascadias can avoid more than 36 t of carbon dioxide emissions per day. Over the course of a year that’s the equivalent of removing 2,400 petrol-fuelled cars from the roads. Battery-electric trucks are crucial to meeting Schneider’s sustainability goals of reducing CO2 emissions per mile by 7.5% by 2025 and by 60% by 2035. (ben)
