Asia-Europe gains momentum
According to the analyst Container Trade Statistics, volumes on the Asia to Europe trade lane rose last November after a slowdown in October. Container Trades Statistics' latest data shows that volumes heading from Asia to Europe increased to a total of 1.1 million teu, 6.1% higher than in 2013.
On average, growth on the trade lane came in at almost 8% in 2014, but slowed in October to almost 4%. November volumes on the Asia-north Europe trade lane jumped to 751,042 teu, almost 7% up on 2013.
For the first eleven months of 2014, container volumes from Asia to north Europe - at 9.2 million teu - were just above 8% ahead of the first eleven months in 2013.
