Automotive logistics provider tests LNG trucks in France

In cooperation with Volvo Trucks and Iveco, Gefco has tested two trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) under real conditions in the north of France. Overall, the two vehicles covered a total of 11,000 km in two weeks. Compared to a diesel truck, the LNG vehicles achieved significantly better results in terms of energy efficiency, CO2/NOx and noise emissions and driver comfort.

The first trial was conducted with a Volvo truck on a stretch of 6000 km, 90% of the distance on a motorway. For the second trial, the companies chose an Iveco truck that was deployed for two – three 300 km long roundtrips a day between Onnaing, France and Zeebruge, Belgium. In this trial, the truck travelled a total of 5,000 km in two weeks. (ben)
