Building a high-speed corridor from Europe to Asia

China and Russia have confirmed their intention to increase their cooperation in the railfreight business. One priority will be to create a high-speed link from Moscow to Kazan (Russia), a key component of the Eurasian high-speed corridor that runs from Moscow to Beijing (China).

The countries also want to promote the digitalisation of transport processes and synchronise their efforts to improve infrastructures at border crossings. In 2018, railfreight volumes through Chinese-Russian border crossings increased by 1 million t to 72.5 million t. A total of 1.2 million containers were carried, a third more than in 2017 (ben).
