Canaryfly opts for full-freighter


The Spanish airline Canaryfly is expanding its fleet, which was only made up of passenger aircraft until now. Today, 15 December 2020, the company put its first full-freighter into operation.The unit, converted from an ATR 72-500, has a maximum cargo capacity of almost 9 t. It will be deployed on regular flights between the various Canary Islands to and from the Spanish mainland, the rest of Europe and Northern Africa.The airline has been using its ATR 72-500 for airfreight services since May (see page 23 of ITJ 36-38/2020). CEO Régulo Andrade said that "we’ll continue to adapt to market demands. The health crisis has hit the aviation sector hard, so we must explore new fields." (ah)
