C.H. Robinson introduces surcharges

The USA-headquartered freight forwarder C.H. Robinson has announced several surcharges due to worsening port congestion in USA and beyond. From 6 September 2021 on, the company will introduce an origin congestion surcharge for goods on the link between Shenzhen and North American ports (USD 5 per w/m).

In addition, C.H. Robinson imposes drayage congestion surcharges from 1 September for boxes handled from terminals in the ports of Charleston, Savannah, Houston, Los Angeles, Long Beach, New York and New Jersey, Seattle-Tacoma, and all rail locations in Atlanta.

The freight forwarder justified the measures by saying that "operational costs have significantly increased in the ports over the past weeks." (sh)
