Changes in North America, continuity in South China

Starting today (13 February 2019), with its last Addis Ababa - Lomé - Los Angeles service, Ethiopian Airlines is to restructure its US network as of summer 2019.

Washington DC flights will be increased from daily to ten weekly flights, the new flights will pass through Abidjan. The current thrice weekly service to Chicago IL will be increased to five flights per week.

Out of the planned daily flights to New York, four will be routed via Lomé to Newark NJ, and three will fly via Abidjan to JFK. Lastly, the new gateway Houston TX (photo) is replacing Los Angeles CA, and will be served three times per week via West Africa.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian has been recognised for the second year in succession as the "Top Performing Cargo Airline" by Guangzhou Airport (China), where the carrier has collared the largest share (>11%) of the international airfreight tonnage. (ah)
