Channel Tunnel now part of new Silk Road
Getlink (formerly Groupe Eurotunnel) has welcomed the introduction of a new cross-Channel service between the UK and France.
Operated by GB Railfreight or Transfesa, on behalf of CMA CGM Logistics, the new intermodal service which transports containers between the UK and Germany (with onward connections to Poland and China via the new Silk Road) left London Gateway, heading for Duisburg, for the first time on 11 April.
The service will initially operate with one return trip per week, with the potential to reach six returns per week in the future, according to Getlink. (ben)
