China-Poland train takes Altynkol route for first time
A container train en route between Lodz (Poland) and Chengdu (China) has passed through Altynkol station on Kazakhstan’s border for the first time. The train, hauling 41 forty foot containers was processed in the SEZ Khorgos - eastern Gate dry port in Kazakhstan.
Plans are in place to operate a regular container train service from Poland to China via Altynkol, according to KTZ Express.
Switching cargo flows from the interstate Dostyk-Alashankou crossing to Altynkol-Khorgos speeds up the processing of trains changing from a narrow gauge rail track (1,435 mm) to a wider one (1,520 mm). (ben)
