China trains boost trade through the port of Duisburg

Duisport, the port of Duisburg (Germany), is intensifying its cooperation with the Chinese city of Chongqing. The port’s administration and the Chinese company YuXinOu have signed an agreement to that effect.

YuXinOu organises railfreight services to and from Chongqing. Singapore’s terminal operator PSA plays an important role in the efforts to develop Chongqing as a major logistics hub in China. Duisport has therefore also concluded a cooperation agreement with PSA to develop multimodal logistics platforms.

In 2018, 80% of the 1,400 trains from Chonqgqing that were bound for Europe were channelled through the port of Duisburg. (ben)
