CN expands North American intermodal services
Canadian National Railway (CN) has agreed to acquire Winnipeg-based TransX, one of Canada’s largest and oldest transport companies. TransX will continue to be based in Winnipeg and will operate independently.
This strategic acquisition allows CN to deepen its supply chain focus, strengthen its franchise that includes its intermodal business, notably the specialised refrigerated segment.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed and the acquisition is subject to regulatory review by Canada's competition authority and its transport ministry. (ben)
