Connecting Hong Kong and São Paulo via Angola

Taag Angola Airlines launched a regular cargo service between Hong Kong and São Paulo via its Luanda hub in mid-March. The twice-weekly flights, operated by a B777-200ER all-cargo aircraft, provide up to 41 t of cargo capacity for the Chinese company JDL Express.

According to the South West African flag carrier's CEO, Eduardo Fairen Soria, Taag is also considering opening a second all-cargo service from China to the Brazilian metropolis, also twice weekly, departing from Guangzhou.

The expansion of the cargo business is expected to put the airline, which has been battered by travel restrictions, back on track financially. To this end, Taag has also leased a B737-700 from Cabo Verde Airlines, which can be used as an all-cargo aircraft. A second one is on approach. (ah)
