Cross-border traffic management system under starter’s orders
Congestion on motorways in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands is to be relieved by the deployment of modern telematics systems. Transport ministers from the three countries recently signed a declaration of intent for the introduction of cooperative intelligent transport systems and services (C-ITS) on motorways. The declaration lays a foundation for the cross-border deployment of C-ITS on the Rotterdam - Frankfurt/Main – Vienna corridor. Installation of the application which has been jointly developed with the transport industry, will commence in 2015 and be used to provide drivers with advance information about road works and the current state of traffic.
