Cross-dock centre opens in Ghent
The global supply chain provider Mainfreight is moving to its new cross-dock centre in Ghent this month (June 2018). It is the company’s third investment in Belgium after it established facilities in Genk and Evergem.
The 10,000 sqm Mainfreight centre that will provide international groupage services and national distribution is the first development at a completely new business park named “Eilandje Zwijnaarde” in Ghent.
Ghent’s alderman Mathias De Clercq explained: “The development of this business park in our port city will provide additional space for biotech enterprises and logistics and distribution companies. That will be beneficial for employment in Ghent. Mainfreight itself is creating 100 jobs at its new centre. Our long-term goal is to create around 3,500 jobs in the business park.” (mw)
