DB Schenker Rail boosts frequencies to Turkey
DB Schenker Rail is augmenting its offer for Turkey’s growth market by launching a new transport connection between Cologne (Germany) and Cerkezköy, near Istanbul. The new link will begin with one round trip per week. This will be increased to as many as three per week by the end of the year.
The trains, which are comprised of special double pocket wagons for hauling trailers, require five to six days for the one-way trip. In September 2013, the Germany service provider already began a train service, known as the Bosphorus Shuttle, which ran from Germany to Turkey. DB Schenker Rail organises its own transport together with its national affiliates in Germany, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. (ben)
