Decathlon opts for logistics hotspot Tilburg

Decathlon has concluded a long-term lease with HVBM Vastgoed for a new distribution centre to be constructed on a site of approximately 45,000 sqm in Tilburg (the Netherlands). Decathlon has decided to take this step due to the growth of its stores and sales on the Dutch market.

Whereas at the end of 2012 three Decathlon stores were located in the Netherlands, the 20th Decathlon store will open in Nijmegen in mid-November this year. VBM Vastgoed recently purchased a large-scale redevelopment location in the Kraaiven business area in Tilburg where the new distribution centre for Decathlon will be built.

The distribution hub - designed by Dedato Architects - will be used by Decathlon to supply Dutch stores. The facility, which is expected to open mid-2020, will initially offer work to more than 150 employees. (mw)
