DHL Express mulls closer cooperation with Migros

DHL Express currently has a network of about 700 locations for the collection and despatching of parcel shipments in Switzerland. The «last mile» is considered a great challenge for parcel services providers in terms of delivery performance and customer focus.

In addition to deliveries carried out by local DHL courier services, DHL Express offers the option of organising the reception of the consignments proactively. For example, recipients most frequently prefer the option of having consignments left at a service point for later collection.

To this end, DHL Express relies on partnerships with other companies such as the retailer Migros. Since the end of August this year, the Migros cooperatives Aare and Zurich have been running trials at 13 locations with DHL Express to test the format of a possible cooperation for the picking up and dispatching of parcels for private customers.

Now Migros and DHL Express want to finalise the concept of a comprehensive network of parcel locations. It is expected that the current trial will show by the end of 2019 whether and how a future partnership may be implemented on an operational level. (mw)
