DHL ups robot deployment in the UK
DHL Supply Chain is investing GBP 550 million (EUR 637 million) to expand its automation capabilities in the UK and Ireland, supporting growth in e-commerce and the life sciences.
The plan includes deploying over 1,000 new robots, including the UK’s first ‘Boston Dynamics Stretch’ units. The investment is in line with the DHL Group’s ‘Strategy 2030’ and the UK’s new trade strategy, reinforcing the country’s logistics role. More than 2,000 robots are already in use, with 750 assisting picking at 18 sites.
DHL is also opening a new health logistics facility in Derby, equipped for cold chain and cleanroom operations. The expansion supports customer demand for faster, more efficient solutions and aims to strengthen the UK’s position as a global trade hub.
DHL’s tailored digital approach will help high-growth sectors meet complex logistics needs and drive innovation in supply chains.
