DNV LNG platform starts in April

In order to have a share in the LNG ship-fuel market, DNV GL has launched a new online bunkering platform to integrate the activities of operators from order to delivery. The so-called Fuel Boss platform offers ship owners, operators and suppliers a single common platform for nomination, scheduling, spot inquiries and business intelligence.

DNV said in a press release that LNG suppliers Gasum, Cryo Shipping and Nauticor are among the confirmed pilot customers and that they have supported the development of the tool. “The idea behind Fuel Boss is to standardise and simplify daily work processes and to enable the LNG fuel industry to reap the benefits of digitalisation,” says Trond Hodne, senior vice president at DNV GL – Maritime.

“At the moment, both the interest in and the number of vessels using LNG is growing rapidly, but the bunkering picture is still fragmented. Delivery costs can be a significant part of the delivered LNG price, so optimising the supply chain is essential."

The platform is due to launch commercially in April 2020. Interested parties can however participate in the beta phase. (mw)
