Drone system spreads its wings worldwide

Tiaca sustainability award winner, the Dutch start-up Wings For Aid has developed an innovative approach to the "last-mile" problem of reaching people in inaccessible areas to provide them with life-saving supplies, designing self-landing delivery boxes for unmanned aircraft. Last week, it started its world tour in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean, with a demonstration flight. The aim of the world tour is to inform global stakeholders and to test-drive operational procedures.

The tour will next lead to Rwanda, where Wings For Aid will participate in the African Drone Forum from next Wednesday, 5 February 2020, and demonstrate the delivery system there. The tour is based on the different logistic challenges each region faces to ensure the best implementation, before becoming fully operational later this year. (ah)
