DSV augments LCL-Services in Hamburg

DSV and Panalpina have been operating under one flag in Germany since January 2020. In Hamburg, the merger brings an expansion of capacities and services - particularly in the LCL segment.

Since the beginning of this year, DSV Air & Sea has been using Panalpina's storage and cargo handling halls in the port of Hamburg for processing general cargo shipments in the LCL segment and buyers consolidation so that customers can benefit from an all-in-one service network.

The 30,000 sqm cargo centre has its own container depot with a capacity of up to 500 teu and a container packing station for worldwide import and export LCL traffic. The location has its own customs department and serves as a consolidation point for suppliers from across Europe.

"Because of the good infrastructures on site we can react flexibly to all requirements and immediately forward urgent sea freight consignments as air cargo shipments, for example, or order pick and administer deliveries in our own high bay warehouse," says Heiko Vogt, DSV cargo centre manager Hamburg.
