Duisport restructures key divisions

Alexander Garbar (photo), who has been in the Port of Duisburg's corporate development department for five years, most recently as its deputy head, will lead the division as of 1 January 2022. He will report directly to the chairman of the executive board, Markus Bangen.

Garbar will also join the management team of the Startport innovation platform. His predecessor Sascha Treppte is leaving Duisport, the world's largest inland port, at his own request.

With immediate effect, IT will be integrated into the corporate development division. Its previous head Stanislaw Spitzer will also become Garbar's new deputy at the turn of the year.

In order to improve the management of the port's Asian business, an Asian Desk will also be established under the leadership of Guanzhe Cao, who has been project manager and executive assistant for the port for the last five years. He will report to Bangen and new executive board member Carsten Hinne. (ah)
