Economic impact of Dallas/Fort Worth airport
Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) international airport contributes more than USD 31 billion worth of economic impact into the Dallas/Fort Worth TX (USA) region every year, according to a new study by the University of North Texas Center for Economic Development and Research. The study shows DFW produces almost double the economic impact indicated in previous studies, because it includes DFW cargo operations and related business activities that previous studies did not take into account.
DFW directly or indirectly supports more than 143,000 permanent jobs to North Texas residents, including 60,000 people who work on the airport premises, resulting in more than USD9 billion in annual wages, salaries and benefits. The latest study also found that air cargo operations at DFW support USD 16.7 billion in regional economic activity every year, while business activity and visitor spending associated with DFW operations generate more than USD 1.7 billion annually for state and local taxing jurisdictions.
