Emirates upgrading in Angola; Air Namibia launching West Africa service

Air Namibia is launching a Windhoek–Lagos–Accra service today 29 June. Utilising fifth freedom traffic rights granted by the Ghanaian and Nigerian governments, the Airbus A319 (photo) flights, operated four times a week, are open to transport cargo on the leg linking Lagos and Accra.

One day later, on 1 July, Emirates will reinstate two weekly flights between Luanda and Dubai, increasing capacity to five flights a week between the capital of Angola, Namibia's northern neighbour, and the UAE's largest city. The new Boeing B777-300ER flights will offer up to 23 t of cargo per flight, giving companies the opportunity to increase electronic equipment imports, as well as construction and pharmaceuticals products.
