EU approves SNCF's acquisition of 25% stake in Comsa

In line with the EU merger regulation, the European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control over Spain-based Comsa Rail Transport (CRT) by the French rail transport provider SNCF and the Spanish group Comsa-Emte T&L. Currently, CRT is solely controlled by Comsa.

Both SNCF and CRT provide railfreight transport services and services ancillary to rail transport. CRT is active in Spain only. The EU Commission came to the conclusion that the transaction would raise no competition concerns because the merged entity will have very limited combined market shares. (ben)
