Eurasian shipping in tank containers
The Russian operator of transit container services, UTLC, has launched shipping in tank containers from China to Europe. The first train, consisting of 82 teu tank containers loaded with butylene glycol produced by Xinjiang Markor Chemical Industry, departed recently from Korla station in China. The cargo transited through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and then in the EU through Poland to a terminal in Duisburg (Germany). The regularity of shipments has been confirmed to date, with frequencies of one train a month. this will be followed by an increase in frequencies at a later date. (ben)
