Expanding in Almaty
Kazakhstan plays an important role in the new Silk Road. Austria-based Quehenberger Logistics has reacted to this by opening new premises in the Kazakh city Almaty.
There, the company’s affiliate (Quehenberger Logistics Kazakhstan/QLK) has expanded its contract logistics sector by a 1,500 sqm warehouse. QLK began handling all logistics services for an international tyre manufacturer at the site on 1 May.
In addition to a bigger contract logistics sector, Quehenberger also augmented its existing product Q Traction when the new facility opened. Transport services to/from China currently use the trans-Siberian route. In future this corridor will be complemented by the opportunities offered by the new Silk Road.
QLK’s team is also responsible for coordinating and controlling all transport services in the Central Asian region. (mw)
