Faster rail transport for Kazakh flour
A train loaded with flour was sent on a new 3,500 km route from Kostanay through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to Afghanistan for the first time last week. The train was made up of more than 50 wagons and carried cargo weighing 3,300 t.
Kazakhstan is a world leader in grain production. "The development of transport solutions along the new route will increase Kazakhstan's transit potential, reduce turnover and accelerate the return of rolling stock by 2 to 2.5 times," according to KTZ Freight Transportation. From the beginning of 2018 1.2 million t of flower have been delivered for export; 8% more than in the same period in 2017. (ben)
