First frozen whole Malaysian durians flown to China

After changing its regulations, which before permitted Malaysian durians to be imported only in pulp or paste form, China has allowed Maskargo to fly frozen whole durian fruits, which are also known as stinky fruits, to Shanghai. A first shipment of 4 t arrived last week at PVG airport after a scheduled stop in Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia).

Maskargo's CCO Jason Thomas: "This is a great development for us in terms of expanding our business. The fruits are a big hit in China and we are happy to be part of this demand. From the arrival at our perishables centre, these fruits are kept fresh in our cold rooms before being shipped in temperature-controlled Envirotainers."

He also thanked the exporter, Beho Fresh, and the durian processing factory, PHG Ever Fresh Food, for choosing Maskargo for this inaugural delivery. (ah)
