For more traffic along the Rhine

In Germany, the Kehl Port Authority, located across the Rhine from Strasburg, and ETK Euro Terminal Kehl (ETK) have extended their cooperation agreement on container business ahead of schedule until 2034. This sets the course for further growth in trimodal goods traffic.

In 2021, the number of boxes handled by ship increased by 11% compared to the previous year to almost 34,000 teu. If the containers handled by truck and rail are added, the Kehl terminal has a traffic performance of almost 150,000 teu per year.

Since 2006, ETK and the Kehl Port Authority have jointly operated the container terminal in the Rhine port of Kehl on an area of around 30,000 sqm directly at port basin II.

ETK is a joint venture between the freight forwarder Klumpp + Müller in Kehl and Haeger & Schmidt Logistics in Duisburg. Its services are rounded off by a scheduled shipping service and train connections to and from the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam. (sh)
