For St Patrick's Day: Etihad increases Aer Lingus stake
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has increased its stake in Ireland's Aer Lingus from 15.95 million shares, or just under 3%, to 16.075 million shares or 3.01%. The value of the transaction was EUR 27 million (USD 37.45 million).
The national carrier of the UAE, which has recently modified its organisational structure by creating the Etihad Aviation Group, also holds minority stakes in Air Serbia (49%), Air Seychelles (40%), Air Berlin (29,21%) and Virgin Australia (10%). Etihad is also set to finalise the acquisition of parts of Switzerland's Darwin Airlines (33.3%) rebranded into Etihad Regional, and India's Jet Airways (24%). Talks with Alitalia are still going on.
