Freight forwarders quarrel about fees in Frankfurt

A dispute about unloading fees has arisen at Frankfurt Airport. Stephan Haltmayer, managing director of the medium-sized freight forwarder Quick Cargo Service (QCS), says that according to the law, the deliverer is not obliged to pay the unloading fee. Instead, it is the duty of the airfreight carrier or the commissioned freight handler.

Haltmeyer is of the opinion that an unloading charge agreement has to be made first. He added: "The current situation and the resulting insecurity are weakening the Frankfurt location [...] and especially because the handling situation at the airport has been problematic in recent years due to the lack of IT infrastructure. If we get cargo backlogs again, we will switch to other European airfreight hubs." (ah)
