Freight operators benefit from smoother curves
Freight operators in Western Australia are set to benefit from the AUD 11 million (EUR 7.3 million) Albany Lake Grace Road project—better known as Amelup Curves.
The scheme, which is due to start in coming weeks, will upgrade dangerous curves, intersections and bridges, and keep the road reliably open during flooding events. Albany Lake Grace Road is a critical route for the grain and livestock industries, linking the wheat belt to Albany Regional Centre.
There are currently two floodways through this section, which close the road during storm events, causing significant disruption to ever-increasing local transport needs. (ben)
