From China to France in under 21 days
Gefco has successfully operated its first train hauling loaded 40 foot containers along the new Silk Road. It took almost three weeks for the train to cover the more than 11,000 km long route between Wuhan (China) and Dourges in northern France.
The blocktrain, carrying goods for PSA, left Wuhan on 3 November, and crossed seven countries. UTLC took over the train on the stretch of track between Dostyk (Kazakhstan) and Brest (Belarus). The train then ran through Poland and Germany, and reached the Dourges terminal on 22 November. The shipment was then forwarded to the car maker’s plant in Douvrin (France). (ben)
