Gateway Basel Nord could shift 100,000 trucks

The independent company Rapp Trans has delivered an expert opinion on the presumed impact of the planned trimodal terminal Gateway Basel Nord on the modal shift in Switzerland and thus on the goal to reduce the number of truck journeys on the Swiss road network.

The traffic experts conclude that the calculation method and the underlying assumptions may be confirmed in principle and that therefore a reduction of more than 100,000 truck journeys is plausible.

Furthermore, the experts showed that around 10,000 t CO2 could be saved this way, Gateway Basel Nord said. (ben)
