Germany and Poland bridge the gap

The new bridge over the Oder can now be planned: the two countries concerned, Germany and Poland, have recently concluded an agreement to build a new bridge between Küstrin-Kietz in Brandenburg (Germany) and Kostrzyn in Poland.

The existing bridge, which was built before World War II, is to be replaced by the end of 2025. The old bridge is in need of rehabilitation and currently only open to pedestrian traffic and goods traffic with a total weight of 7.5 t. Therefore, freight traffic has to make detours.

With the new bridge, companies in the region will again be able to ship their goods to Germany or Poland by the shortest route in future. (ben)
