Gothenburg signs new energy deal

The Swedish port of Gothenburg has signed long-term agreements with Inter Terminals Sweden, its third-largest energy sector customer. The 25-year deal includes leases for surface areas and underground caverns, along with a dues agreement based on volume and traffic.

This agreement will provides stability for both parties and support ongoing investment in renewable energy infrastructure. Inter Terminals, active in Gothenburg since 1964, handles liquid energy products and increasingly biofuels, including HVO and Fame.

Inter Terminals Sweden managing director Johan Zettergren said the longer lease and transparent cost structure will enable further scaling, including new tank infrastructure and green technology.

Port CEO Göran Eriksson highlighted the strategic importance of a committed partner in the energy transition. The deal is expected to contribute to the development of a future-oriented energy hub in Scandinavia’s largest port.
