Green hydrogen supplier settles in Duisport

Plug Power, a provider of green hydrogen for the global market, is locating its future European headquarters in the port of Duisburg. The listed company has been active in Europe for more than ten years and is looking to further expand its business activities on the continent.

As an economic hub, Duisport already serves a large proportion of Plug Power's current customers, particularly in the logistics and transport sectors. The company's technology is used to power electric motors with hydrogen fuel cells. Plug Power has also created the first commercially viable market for hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) technology.

As a result, the company has deployed more than 40,000 fuel cell systems for electric mobility and has become the largest consumer of liquid hydrogen by building and operating a hydrogen highway across North America. Its customer portfolio includes companies such as Amazon, BMW, The Southern Company, Carrefour and Walmart. (sh)
