Hamburg's freight forwarders in buoyant mood

In Germany, Hamburg’s association of freight forwarders (VHSP) is very optimistic about this year’s economic outlook. As the annual survey conducted among the 340 member companies of the VHSP showed, almost 31% of the providers plan to hire more staff in 2019, and more than 41% expect turnover to increase. The mood among shipping lines is more pessimistic, however: 71% experience a decline in the quality of service.

Opinion among Hamburg’s logistics providers is divided with regard to the choice of fuel sources for the future. Hydrogen tops the list, with 35% of the companies preferring this option. LNG and electricity were also frequently mentioned as probable alternatives. (ben)
