Happy feet for containers
A special type of container support is being introduced by the Helsinki-based company Oy Con Foot. Use of these Confoot legs can cut costs substantially when moving a container from a vehicle, or vice-versa.
The legs can be positioned at the four corners of a box, and once in place, the truck or trailer with air suspension can be lowered and driven away. No additional equipment is needed. Forwarders and hauliers can therefore reduce the number of trailers that they deploy and use them more effectively in other sectors.
The height of the Confoot container supports is adjustable and a set of four “feet” can carry up to 30 t. A forklift can be used to stuff or strip a container when it is standing on Confoot supports and fixed to a loading ramp. Each leg weighs 24 kg.
