India and Russia to develop freight terminals
Indian Railways and Russian Railways (RZD) have signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) for the railfreight sector. The pact includes, inter alia, the implementation of India's speed upgradation project on the Nagpur (Maharashtra)-Secunderabad (Telanga) line, the development of multimodal terminals, and best practices in freight cargo operations.
Furthermore, the two railways intend to set up a single traffic control centre, exchange technologies and train staff. The MoC, which was signed on the sidelines of last week's India-Russia Summit, follows on from the signing of a MoU in 2015. (ben)
