Intermodal thrust for LHG

Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG), a German port operator on the Baltic Sea, flourished in the intermodal sector in 2018. The LHG subsidiary, Baltic Rail Gate (BRG), handled nearly 104,000 units (semi-trailers, containers and swap bodies) via the terminal on the port’s Skandinavienkai last year. The volume, which is just under 18% compared to 2017, was BRG’s best ever in its history. The increase was registered in all target areas.

The double daily connections to Duisburg (Germany), the five per week departures to Novara (Italy) and the new link to Nuremberg (Germany) noted very favourable developments. The BRG handled around 89,000 trailers and containers in 2017, 19% more than in 2016.

Antje Falk, BRG’s managing director, commented: "We were proud to over shoot the magic mark of 100,000 units in 2018.” (kd)
