Investments in Arkansas rail infrastructure pay off

Union Pacific (UP) is boosting safety and efficiency with an USD 135 million infrastructure investment in Arkansas this year. The US class I railroad's investment plan funds the maintenance of railroad track and bridges in the state. Key projects include the replacement of 75 km of track between Rison and Camden as well as the replacement of 61,005 railroad ties and the installation of 16,838 t of rock ballast between Little Rock and Benton. UP has invested USD 51 billion since 2000, contributing to a 40% decrease in derailments during the same period. (ben)
