Italy: bottled water to be hauled by LNG trucks

All of the Gruppo Sanpellegrino’s shuttle transport services from its mineral water bottling plant at San Pellegrino Terme to its logistics centre at Madone (Italy), have lighter carbon footprints following the delivery of Scania R 410 LNG powered vehicles.

The beverage producer’s logistics partner Koiné has taken delivery of 50 such Scania units, most of which will be used to transport bottled water.

Last year, Sanpellegrino produced 1.5 billion bottles of mineral water that were exported to more than 150 countries. Some 300 trucks run to/from the production plant round the clock, seven days a week. (ben)
